From Wikipedia: San Marino (known as the Most Serene Republic of San Marino, Italian: Serenissima Repubblica di San Marino) on the Italian peninsula, is one of the world's smallest sovereign countries, and claims to be the world's oldest republic. The country bears the name of Saint Marinus, a Christian stonemason who is said to have founded the country in 301 AD.
